こんにちは！あやごんです！
今日は、「アメリカの高校のアメフトを観戦した話」です！
バスを降りて友達の地元に着くと、まず向かったのは、その友達の母校でもある高校でした。そこでアメフトの試合が行われるということで、観戦してきました！
ホットドッグとポップコーンを片手にアメフト観戦なんて、
「なんてアメリカンなんだ！」と思いながら（笑）
その日はちょうど「ホームカミングデー」でもあったので、花火が上がり、
チアリーダーやマーチングバンドの演奏もあって、会場はとても盛り上がっていました！
綺麗なタッチダウンによる得点も見られて、大満足でした✨
印象に残ったのは、ハーフタイムに行われたイベントです！
おそらくクラス単位で、生徒5人ほどが装飾された車の荷台に乗り、
陸上トラックをゆっくりと一周してきました。
「何が始まるんだろう？」と思って見ていると、どうやらクラス内で投票を行い、
一位になった人をみんなでお祝いするイベントだったようです。
投票のテーマは、「一番リーダーシップがある人」や「一番優しい人」など。
詳しくは聞き取れませんでしたが、なかなか面白い内容でした。
車が観客席の前に到着すると、司会の人が1位になった生徒の名前を盛大に読み上げ、
その生徒が王冠をかぶるという流れ（笑）。
「なかなか競争意識を煽るイベントだな〜」と思いましたが、
高校生らしいといえば高校生らしいですよね。
日本では「学力」で競争意識を煽ることが多いですが、
アメリカでは学力だけじゃなく、いろんな面で競い合っているのかもしれませんね。
アメリカ人の友達に「やっぱりアメフト部がヒエラルキーのトップなの？」と聞いたら、
笑いながら「まぁそうだね笑」と答えていました。
やっぱり、アメリカの学園ドラマでよく見る構図って、あながち間違ってないのかも？笑
学生時代のあの“なんとも言えない学校内ヒエラルキー“は、世界共通なのかもしれないなんて思ったひとときでした！

Today, I want to share “the story of watching a high school football game in the U.S.” 🏈
When we got off the bus and arrived in my friend’s hometown,
The first place we headed to was their old high school.
There was a football game that day, so of course we went to watch!
Holding a hot dog and popcorn in my hands, I couldn’t help thinking,
“This is so American!” lol
It happened to be Homecoming Day,
So there were fireworks, cheerleaders, and a marching band performance—
The whole atmosphere was so lively and full of excitement!
I even got to see a beautiful touchdown, which made me totally satisfied ✨
The most memorable part, though, was the halftime event.
It seemed like each class had chosen about five students to ride
on the back of a decorated truck that slowly circled the running track.
I was wondering, “What’s going on?”
and it turned out to be an event where each class celebrated the students
who had won a class vote.
The vote categories were things like “Most Leadership” or “Kindest Person.”
I couldn’t catch every detail,
but it was such an interesting and funny idea!
When each truck stopped in front of the audience,
the MC announced the winner’s name loudly,
and the student put on a crown 👑—so extra but so fun lol.
I thought, “Wow, this really brings out people’s competitive side,”
But at the same time, it felt very high school.
In Japan, competition usually comes from academics,
But in the U.S., it seems like students compete in all kinds of areas, not just grades.
I asked my American friend,
“So, are the football players really at the top of the school hierarchy?”
and they laughed and said, “Yeah, kinda.” 😂
I guess those American high school dramas might not be that far from reality after all!
It made me realize that the mysterious social hierarchy we experience in school
might actually be a universal thing around the world.
