Shiso Love! A Day of Big Haul

Hi, it’s Ayagon!

Today, I’d like to share a story about buying a large quantity of shiso leaves.

The other day, I went shopping at a Japanese grocery store with a friend from Japan.

Next to the register, we found a bag full of shiso leaves!

There were about 40 leaves for only $2

It was so cheap that we decided to split the bag.

My friend took a big sniff of the bag and made the happiest face, saying,

“Ahh~ this is it!” lol

I totally agreed. When I smelled the shiso again after a long time, I thought,

“Yes, this is exactly it!!”

The smell is so good, it feels like it goes right into your body.

When I got home, I immediately made shiso miso and pork wrapped in shiso leaves.

While chopping the shiso and mixing it with miso,

I thought, “This feels just like playing house in the park when I was a kid,” and laughed.

Back then, we used fallen leaves to ‘cook,’ but now I’m mixing miso with real shiso…what a big upgrade! lol

I still need to ask my friend what they made with their shiso!
