今日は「台湾のお祭りでオランダのブースを発見した話」です！
台湾人の友人と台湾のお祭りに遊びに行った日のこと。
多くの出店が立ち並ぶ中で、「Dutch」と書かれた比較的大きなブースを発見！パンやお菓子、雑貨などがたくさん並べられていました。
「ん？Dutchって何だっけ？」と思い、調べてみると「Dutch＝オランダ」とのこと。
「へぇ〜！でも、何でオランダなの？🇳🇱」とさらに不思議に思い、調べてみると、
どうやらかなり昔、台湾はオランダの領地だったことが分かりました。
「へぇ〜！」と驚きました。
時代が進んで、カナダで台湾人と日本人がオランダ文化を一緒に楽しむ、なんだか素敵なことだな、と思いました。
歴史を学ぶと今の文化がより楽しくなるんじゃないかなと
世界の歴史や文化について、もっと学びたいと思った一日でした！

Today, I’d like to share a story about discovering a Dutch booth at a Taiwanese festival.
I went to the festival with my Taiwanese friends. Among the many booths, we noticed a fairly large one labeled “Dutch,” selling breads, sweets, and various little goods.
I thought, “Hmm… Dutch? What does that mean?” I looked it up and learned that “Dutch” means the Netherlands.
I wondered, “Wow! But why Dutch things here? 🇳🇱” So I did a little research and found out that, a long time ago, Taiwan used to be a Dutch territory!
Fast forward to today, here in Canada, a Taiwanese friend and I, both from different countries, could enjoy Dutch culture together—it felt really special.
Learning about history makes experiencing culture even more fun.
It was a day that reminded me how exciting it is to explore world history and culture, and how much more there is to discover!
