カナダで『鬼滅の刃』が上映されるということで、台湾人の友達と観に行ってきました。
日本語音声・英語字幕をチョイス！私は漫画派なので、映画を観るのはこれが初めてでした。
感想は、序盤からフルスピードのバトルシーンでめちゃくちゃ面白かったです。
『鬼滅の刃』の特徴かな？と思うのですが、鬼にもそれぞれの物語があり、単純に悪者だとは割り切れなかったです。
とはいえ、人を傷つけることが正当化されるわけではないですよね。
映画を観ながら、今の小学生や中学生はこのストーリーをどう受け取るのかな？と考えてしまいました。
この作品が、物事を一つの側面だけで見るのではなく、さまざまな立場や視点から考えるきっかけになったらいいですね！
面白かったのが、セリフには古風でかっこいい日本語の数々が使われていて、「これどう英訳してるんだろ？」と思ったんです。それで字幕を確認したら、その英語自体が理解できなかったです（笑）
悔しい！英語習得の道のりはまだまだ長そうです！
もう一つ面白かったのは、観客の笑うタイミングの違い。
英語字幕を追っている人と日本語音声で聞いている人では理解のスピードが違っていて、
日本語で理解している人たちの方がだいたい2秒くらい速く笑っていました（笑）。きっと日本人の方たちだな、と親近感。
友達が日本語音声を選んでくれて、とても優しくて感動しましたが、途中でどれくらい理解できているのかな？と気になり、終わったあとに聞いてみたら「80％くらいかな？」とのこと。
「えぇ！次は台湾語音声、英語字幕で観よう！」と思った一日でした。
何はともあれ、とても素敵な映画でした！

Since Demon Slayer was showing in Canada, I went to watch it with my Taiwanese friend. We chose Japanese audio with English subtitles. I usually read the manga, so this was actually my first time watching the movie.
My impression was that it was super exciting from the very beginning, with full-speed battle scenes! One thing I noticed, which is a notable feature of Demon Slayer, is that even the demons have their own stories. Because of that, it was hard to see them as simply “bad guys.” Still, hurting people can never be justified. While watching, I began to wonder what today’s elementary and middle school students might think about this story.
I hope this movie can be a chance for people not to see things from only one side, but to think from different perspectives.
Another funny thing was the old-fashioned, cool Japanese words used in the lines. I kept thinking, “Wow, how do they translate this into English??” When I checked the subtitles, sometimes I didn’t even know the English words they used! lol
My journey of learning English still has a long way to go.
One more thing I noticed was the difference in the audience’s laughter. People who were following the English subtitles and people who understood the Japanese audio laughed at different times. The ones who understood Japanese laughed about two seconds earlier! I thought, “Ah, they must be Japanese,” and I felt a kind of closeness to them.
My friend kindly chose the Japanese audio for me, which made me so happy. But I started wondering how much she actually understood. After the movie, I asked, and she said, “About 80%.” Wow! That made me think, “Okay, next time let’s watch it in Taiwanese audio with English subtitles!”
Anyway, it was such a wonderful movie!
