こんばんは！あやごんです。
今日は、カナダで開催された日本祭りで出会った「素敵なマダム達」のお話です！
それはチケットの列に並んでいたときのこと。私の後ろにとても品のある白人のおばあちゃんが2人並んでいました。見た目は70代後半から80代くらいかな？と思います。
実はそのお祭り、「65歳以上は入場無料」だったんです！
それをどうしても伝えたかったのですが、「65歳以上は無料ですよ！」なんて、まるで「あなた達65歳以上ですよね？」って言っているみたいで失礼かな…と迷っていました。
そんな時、後ろから聞こえてきた会話がこちら。
「入場料っていくらかしらね？」
「私たちはきっと無料よ！」
思わず私は振り返って「I think so!!」と一言。
そして焦ってさらに「I know you guys still young lol」と付け足してしまいました。
すると、おばあちゃんたちは私の気持ちをすべて見透かしたように大爆笑。私もつられて笑ってしまいました。
そのあと一人のおばあちゃんが笑いながら「あなたにもすぐ来るわよ！」と一言。
その言葉に、また一緒に笑ってしまいました。
よく見ると、お2人ともきれいにメイクをして、おしゃれな服を着こなし、本当に素敵な雰囲気。
思わず「どうしてこのお祭りに来たの？」と聞いてみると、
「去年たまたま立ち寄ったらとても楽しくて、今年も2人で来たのよ！」とのこと。
なんてアクティブなの！（笑）
幾つになってもおしゃれをして、友達と一緒にふらっとお祭りに出かけられる。
私もそんな風に年を重ねたいなと思わせてくれる素敵な出会いでした！
A Day I Met Lovely Ladies
Good evening! This is Ayagon.
Today I want to share a story about two lovely ladies I met at a Japanese festival in Canada!
While I was waiting in line for tickets, two very elegant older ladies were standing behind me. They looked around their late 70s or early 80s.
At this festival, people over 65 could enter for free.
I really wanted to tell them, but if I said, “It’s free for people over 65!” it might sound like I was saying, “You are over 65, right?” So I hesitated.
Then I heard them talking.
“How much is the ticket?”
“I think it’s free for us!”
I couldn’t help turning around and saying, “I think so!!”
Then I panicked and added, “I know you guys are still young lol.”
They both burst out laughing, like they already knew what I was thinking. Of course, I laughed too.
One of them smiled and said, “It will come to you soon, too!”
We laughed together again.
They wore nice makeup and stylish clothes, and they had such a wonderful vibe.
So I asked, “Why did you come to this festival?”
One of them answered, “Last year we joined by chance, and it was so much fun. So we came again this year!”
How active is that!
Even at their age, they dress up, go out with a friend, and enjoy festivals.
I hope I can grow older like them. It was such a heartwarming encounter!
