今日は「ビーチで火傷みたいな日焼け」をしてしまったお話をしたいと思います！
それは、みんなでビーチに行った日のこと。
カナダは夏でも風がひんやりしていて、マットを敷いてのんびりできるのです。
日本なら暑すぎて熱中症になってしまいますよね（笑）
そこが私のカナダの好きなところです！
その日は晴れていて、風も涼やかで心地よく、波の音を聞きながら、気づけば3時間ずっと友人たちとおしゃべりしていました。
そして家に帰ると…
「背中がヒリヒリと痛い！しかも熱い！」
「え？！」と思って洗面所で背中を見てみると、真っ赤っか！！
慌てて保冷剤で冷やしたのですが、時すでに遅し（泣）
完全にこんがり日焼けしてしまいました（笑）
何だか日本での「普通の日焼け」とはレベルが違う気がして、調べてみると…
どうやら日焼けには主に2種類あるそうです。
☀️ サンバーン
- 数時間後に肌が赤くなる
- ヒリヒリ痛い
- 水ぶくれができることも 👉 いわゆる「やけど」に近い日焼け
☀️ サンタン
- 肌が黒く（小麦色に）なる
- 炎症や痛みはほとんどない 👉 これも肌の防御反応＝ダメージ
いや、これ絶対「サンバーンやないかい！」
関西人でもないのに、関西弁で突っ込んでしまいました（笑）
カナダの心地よい風にすっかり油断してしまいました…。
次回からはしっかり日焼け止めを塗って、ビーチを楽しみたいと思います！

Today, I want to share a story about the time I got “almost a burn” kind of sunburn at the beach.
It happened on a day when I went to the beach with my friends.
In Canada, even in the summer, the breeze is cool and refreshing, allowing you to relax on a mat without overheating. In Japan, it would be way too hot—you’d probably get heatstroke lol. That’s one of the things I really like about Canada!
That day was sunny, and the wind felt so nice that we ended up chatting for three hours straight.
But when I got home…
“My back hurts! And it’s burning hot!”
I rushed to the mirror and—oh no, my back was bright red!
I tried cooling it down with ice packs, but it was too late already.
I was completely roasted lol.
It felt different from the usual kind of “sun tan” I got in Japan, so I looked it up. Turns out, there are actually two types of sun exposure:
☀️ Sunburn (Sunburn type)
- A few hours later, your skin turns red
- It stings and hurts
- Sometimes even blisters appear 👉 Basically, it’s like a burn
☀️ Suntan (Tanning type)
- Your skin turns brown (like a summer tan)
- Little to no pain or redness 👉 But still damage to your skin
And clearly, mine was a “Sunburn!”
I even found myself blurting out in Kansai-style Japanese: “Sunburn ya naika!” (like saying “Of course it’s sunburn!” in a funny accent lol)
I totally let my guard down because of the comfortable Canadian breeze… Next time, I’ll be sure to put on plenty of sunscreen before enjoying the beach again!
